NEWS: Banned Books Week starts tomorrow and runs to October 2nd

For those of you unfamiliar with the concept, it's an event designed to celebrate the freedom to read; to highlight the benefits of free and open access to information; and to draw attention to the harms of censorship. The books formally celebtrated during Banned Books are those that have been targets of bans or attempted bans in libraries and bookstores across North America. The most recent list of banned books (which I always find to be a great introduction to new authors and works) can be found HERE.

If you're interested in events in your area, or bookstores that are promoting the event, I urge you to check out http://www.bannedbooksweek.org/. So far, the Sony Reader Store is the first I've found to be offering discounts on banned books (30% off), but I've noticed that Amazon has also put together a page featuring their banned book choices.
