"Waiting On" Wednesday - Take Me There edited by Tristan Taormino

"Waiting On" Wednesday spotlights upcoming releases that everyone's excited about (created by Jill at Breaking The Spine.)

Take Me There: Trans and Genderqueer Erotica edited by Tristan Taormino: In mainstream media, the erotic identities, sex lives, and fantasies of transgender and genderqueer people are often oversimplified, sensationalized, or invisible. Take Me There is an erotica collection unlike any other that celebrates the pleasure, heat, and diversity of transgender and genderqueer sexualities. The power of seeing and being seen is a central theme in the anthology; it’s not simply about passing or not passing (an idea often explored with transgender characters), but about being acknowledged and desired in a sexual context. The book takes you from San Francisco to Israel, from heartache to lust, from stranger sex to a 10 year anniversary, from ballet shoes to butt plug bondage tables, from fumbling teenagers to leatherclad bears, from MTF and FTM—and in between and beyond. [October 11, 2011]

There are so many fantastic authors featured in the collection, including Kate Bornstein (Gender Outlaws: The Next Generation), Patrick Califia (Macho Sluts), Julia Serrano (Whipping Girl), Laura Antoniou (The Marketplace), Helen Boyd (My Husband Betty), Alicia E. Goranson (Supervillainz), Sandra McDonald (Diana Comet and Other Improbable Stories), Giselle Renarde (My Mistress' Thighs), and many others . . . I'm sure it will be a great read!

How about you? What are you waiting on this week?

  1. Great pick although I'm not sure it's something that I would usually pick up, I very rarely read collections.

  2. Sounds interesting. A lot of good writers and different stories.

  3. The first erotic story I ever read was Patrick Califia's "The Surprise Party" which was, I believe, published in Macho Sluts. So to see my work appear alongside his and that of so many other wonderful authors... WOW! It's the highlight of my year.
